Last day of 1st Grade

June 14, 2017, year 3 of school for the kids is over. 1st grade has come and gone. For some reason, this year has seem to fly right by! The kids had an amazing year in 1st grade. Caitlyn did not miss a single day of school! Brittany and Ashton missed 2-3 days. Their teachers this year were so good! Ashton and Brittany's teachers are moving up to 2nd grade and taking their classes with them so if we are still at Phillips next year, they will have the same teacher as this year.  When Ashton got off the bus today, he started crying because he didn't want it to be the last day of school yet. 2 years in a row he has done that. So after school today, we went to the library and got the kids library cards. They each checked out 3 library books to start reading. They enjoyed going to the library and checking out books! Now it's time to start summer!!

Kid's 1st grade music performance

The kids had their first music performance at school this May. It was a patriotic theme. They had to wear red, white and blue clothing and they sang songs that were patriotic. They did an amazing job. Ashton had a little solo speech for his class!

Spring Break UVA

For spring break, Kevin took off the entire week so we could spend the whole week together! We ended up going to the campground for the entire week. Unfortunately the kids were sick pretty much the entire week! We did get to have one fun day. Tuesday we went up to UVA to watch a baseball game at Davenport Field (Finally!!) ODU was traveling up to UVA to play that day. Of course, we are fans of both UVA and ODU, but we were wearing all UVA gear that day! The kids had so much fun. We got to Charlottesville around lunch time. After lunch we went to the bookstore and the kids each got a shirt since they didn't have any UVA gear. We drove around the campus and showed the kids where everything was. Then it was game time! We had great seats behind UVA's dugout on the 3rd baseline. Ashton was chosen to participate in one of their trivia games. Lucky him, he got the question right and got an autographed baseball! The last 2 UVA/ODU games we have been to, ODU has won. This time, UVA won. Of course Ashton wanted the game to end in a tie because he didn't want either team to lose! We had a great time at the ballpark and can't wait to go back!

Of course we can't leave a baseball game without a ball, or two!

Snow tubing

We spend the weekend in Gordonsville, VA with Kevin's sister, brother in law and niece for a nice relaxing get away! We spent 3 nights in a cabin at Shenandoah Crossing Resort. We got there Friday evening, so we didn't do too much. Saturday morning we went to Charlottesville and round around UVA. Took the kids to see where the UVA Baseball, Basketball and Football play. Ashton was loving it.

UVA Baseball Davenport Field

UVA Basketball John Paul Jones Arena

UVA Football Scott Stadium UVA
After going around UVA, we headed back to the cabin for a little rest before going to Massanutten for some night time tubing. We have never been tubing before, so we were excited to go.  Our lift time was from 7-9pm. We got there around 6, so after we checked in and got our tags, we walked over to where people were skiing and snowboarding so the kids could watch them for a little bit.

Once it was our turn to go tubing, we got our tubes and went up the conveyor belt to the top of the hill. Caitlyn and I went down together first. After we all went down the first time together, the kids wanted to go alone. We would go alone or go in groups of 3-4! We all had a fun time! A few videos posted. The first one is Caitlyn and I taking our first trip down the hill. The second one is Kevin, Allie and I going down the hill together and Brittany and Ashton were riding together in the lane next to us. The last video is me going down by myself getting spun at the beginning.

Sunday was a lazy day for us. We spent the day at the resort. After breakfast, we went and played putt putt. It was a little chilly, but we still had fun with a few good laughs! Once we were done with putt putt, we went back to the cabin and ate some lunch. When our food was settled, we god ready to go to the indoor pool and hot tub. We played around in the pool for about an hour or so, then went back to the cabin. We made a spaghetti dinner, watched some football and a movie. We had a nice relaxing weekend getaway!

Snow days

We got our first snow fall of the year. 7 days into the new year! It started snowing Friday evening and didn't stop until Saturday evening. We got about 10-12" of snow! Schools are already closed for Monday and Tuesday due to the side roads not being passable yet and the temperatures are not suppose to get above freezing in the next few days. It was very windy today, but after lunch we took the kids and Shea out to play. Shea wasn't too sure about the snow at first, but she had a great time running and jumping around in the snow.

We only lasted about an hour outside because it was so cold and windy. It made it hard to keep our eyes open at some points. So we came in and make snow cream and hot chocolate!

Monday was a little bit warmer (not too much, only abut 23 degrees) but we were able to go outside and play in the snow again!
